Two EF Masses in Brazil

One of our most regular photopost contributors, Mr João Victor Melo, recently sent us images of two EF Masses celebrated in his native Brazil. On Saturday, June 26th, His Excellency Dom Fernando Guimarães, Archbishop of the Military Ordinariate of Brazil, celebrated a Pontifical Mass in the cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Formosa (state of Goiás), on the occasion of the installation of the cloister of the Redemptorist Nuns in that city. The Mass was that of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Patron of the Congregation of Redemptorist Missionaries. His Excellency Dom Adair José Guimarães, Bishop of Formosa, attended on the throne; this was the first time that the Extraordinary Form was held in this cathedral, which was dedicated in 1994. The Mass was also attended by priests and seminarians of the Diocese of Formosa and the Institute of the Good Shepherd. (The complete ceremony can be seen on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqzKeFkhFRQ)

A tradição sempre será para os jovens!
On the same day, Mass was celebrated at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazareth in Belém (state of Pará), on the occasion of a pilgrimage by the Institute of the Good Shepherd. This was the first time since the liturgical reform that the Extraordinary Form was celebrated on the basilica’s main altar. The church is known for the procession of the Círio de Nazareth on the second Sunday in October, one of the largest Catholic processions in the world.
