Tomorrow, the First Saturday of the month of September, the Pontifical Shrine of Our Lady of Mt Carmel in New York City will have a Sung Mass will be offered in the traditional rite in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, starting at 9am. Following Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed; Confessions will be heard before Mass and during Adoration. Novena prayers to Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be offered, as well as prayers for the Beatification of Venerable Pierre Toussaint, and the Holy Rosary, concluding with Benediction, and veneration of the icon of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The church is located at 448 E. 116th St. in Manhattan.
On Sunday September 8, the Mount Carmel Chapter of the Catholic Society of Young Adults will hold a special series of events at the church, beginning with an EF Sung Mass at 10:30 a.m. After Mass, coffee hour is held in the parish hall; around noon, the Angelus and Rosary will be prayed at an outdoor shrine set up in front of the rectory. Following the Rosary, participants may stay further to pass out church bulletins, holy cards as well as offering prayer to those passing by and inviting them to visit the Church. Concluding prayers will be offered at 1:20 p.m. and the outdoor shrine taken down thereafter. All are invited to join this celebration of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
