The introduction to the new English Missal reprints the original introduction by Paul VI, in which he clearly states that the Gradual Romanum remains the music book of the Roman Rite. Under ideal conditions, these are the chants sung in the ordinary form. But we've slipped so far away from this over the decades that introducing chant often requires using English reductions. There are only scraps of such editions available since the Council. That remained the case until the Simple English Propers appeared earlier this year. Here are the Mass propers from that book for the forthcoming Sunday.
