This weekend, on Saturday 11 June, the Dominican priory of the Holy Spirit will begin the celebration of its patronal feast with a Pentecost Vigil, following the order restored in a 2008 supplement to the Missale Romanum (cf Notitiæ 503-504, Vol.45, 380ff). As a gesture of welcome to those being received into the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham at this time, the vigil will not only have Dominican chant, but also choral music from the Anglican tradition, which is part of the patrimony of the Ordinariate.
The following week, the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham will be celebrating a Solemn Evensong & Benediction at Blackfriars, Oxford on Wednesday 15 June at which Mgr Burnham will preach. The choir will again be singing music drawn from the Anglican choral tradition that spans several centuries, ranging from Byrd to Howells. Photos and report to follow on the NLM.
