2011 Musica Sacra Saint Louis Conference
February 24-26, 2011
"The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art." Sacrosanctum Concilium 112
Inspired by these words of the Second Vatican Council, it is with great joy that we announce the 2011 Musica Sacra Saint Louis Conference.
[...]
The Musica Sacra Saint Louis Conference will give special focus to the treasury of Gregorian Chant, Polyphony and their modern vernacular adaptations employed in use in the sacred Liturgy today. Keynote addresses will discuss What is Liturgical Music, The Importance of Singing the Mass, & Resources of Parish Musicians. In addition, several workshops will be given with topics ranging from the new ICEL chants, what to do when the organ is not a viable option, to vocal technique as well as the Liturgy of the Hours in parish life. Each participant will have the opportunity to sing in both a chant schola (beginning or advanced) and polyphonic choir. All of the music learned throughout the conference will be used for the conference Liturgies.
The conference promises to be a valuable resource for Priests, Directors of Music, Organists, Choirs, Cantors and all responsible for sacred music within the parish.
We hope you will join us. Registration opens on Monday, January 3, 2011. Until then, please sign up for our email newsletter and visit back to our site for updates on the conference. As always we entrust our work to our savior, Jesus Christ, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother.
