The Other Modern: St. Bartholomew's, Brighton

The extraordinary Anglican church of St. Bartholomew's in Brighton with its Gothic nave and freestyle quasi-Byzantine chancel deserves a lengthy post in itself, but I thought it worth sharing this splendid rendering of Henry Wilson's design for the ciborium and its surroundings, done in 1898. Unfortunately the strangely-arranged (if striking) retrochoir with the massive image of the Virgin in Glory was never completed, a pity as it remains one of the more intriguing elements in the composition. A photo of the current conditions can be seen here.
