Ongoing Renovations at St. Mary's, Alexandria, Virginia

I thought I would share some images of a renovation being executed at St. Mary's in Alexandria, Virginia, undertaken by the firm, Gardiner Hall. The renovation is yet in progress; accordingly, these photos -- taken yesterday -- do not show it in its final state.

The project, the NLM is told, has sought to tie into the early Jesuit history of the parish and the region, specifically in relation to the historical neo-classical elements of St. Mary's. (Evidently, one can also see gothic elements within the structure.)

While some of the new elements are quite self evident as they pertain to the crucifix and tabernacle, do also take note of the sanctuary flooring, the wood panelling at the back of the sanctuary, the pulpit, and of course the two statues to either side of the tabernacle.

And finally, one detail from Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at this parish this past weekend.
