Archbishop Ranjith Issues Liturgical Guidelines
Gregor Kollmorgen
H.E. Archbishop Albert Malcom Ranjith Patabendige Don, the former Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments who in June was appointed Archbishop of Colombo, Sri Lanka (Ceylon), has wasted no time in issuing some very clear liturgical guidelines for his new diocese. You can find them on the diocesan website at this link. You will immediately recognise the forthright language for which we have come to appeciate the Archbishop. Among other things, Archbishop Ranjith expressly "recommend[s] all faithful, including the religious, to receive Holy Communion reverently kneeling and on the tongue" (No. 1 lit. e of the Guidelines).
