Michael Lawrence writes a wonderful appreciation of Thomas Day's Why Catholics Can't Sing, with a highlight on how Michael has changed his mind on the book as the years have passed. I recognize some of my own thinking here. I too had doubts when I first read the book, and found myself frustrated for the lack of a blueprint I could embrace or reject. But Michael explains that it is not so simple.
Someday I'll write up an experience in my own life in which Thomas Day played a central role. Suffice it say that I'm deeply in his debt, for he is a great intellectual, musician, and man of courage.
