There has been a great deal of excitement recently about the forthcoming beatification of John Henry Cardinal Newman -- rightly so -- and a story from Zenit today will no doubt also be of interest, particularly for those interested in the process and possibility of certain English figures being raised to the dignity of the altar.
Apparently, the cause of G.K. Chesterton's beatification is being promoted by the Chesterton Society in England. During their recent Oxford conference on "The Holiness of G.K. Chesterton," the determination was made to proceed with the promoting the cause of Chesterton's beatification.
G.K. Chesterton was, of course, a famous English convert, prolific literary figure and apologist for the Catholic Faith whose life spanned the late 19th and early 20th century.
Zenit recently interviewed Paolo Gulisano, author of an Italian biography of Chesterton, Chesterton & Belloc: Apologia e Profeziz about this possibility. To read the entire interview, please see: Blessed" G.K. Chesterton?.
