Pro Multis in Hungary
Gregor Kollmorgen
The German Catholic news site kathnews reports that the Hungarian Bishops' Conference has disposed that the new corrected translation of the words of consecration for the chalice "pro multis" - "for many" - in Hungarian "sokakért" - is to be applied in Hungarian dioceses from Pentecost onwards. According to the report, this has been communicated to priests in Hungary who were sent little adhesive labels to paste over the current erroneous translation "mindenkiért" ("for all"). The order is said to be signed by Péter Cardinal Erdő, Archbishop of Esztergom, Primate of Hungary, President of the Hungarian Bishops' Conference and of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences, and member of the CDWDS as well as the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts and the Apostolic Signatura.
