Entrance, Third Sunday of Lent

The Missal provides two antiphons for the entrance this week, the first of which is rendered authentically and most gloriously in the Gregorian from the Gregorian Missal, of which here is the opening.



It is of course exceptionally beautiful but more difficult than most Introits. If you are in an ordinary form setting, there is the option of using the second antiphon, and here we find a marvelously rich setting from Richard Rice's Simple Choral Gradual. We have here the richness of a hymn with a clean text but without the metrics that invade the solemnity of the moment. Most any choir can sing this. If you try it, please let me know how it goes.
