"Priestly Friends of Summorum Pontificum" Association Established in Italy

The following was sent in to the NLM by the founder of the Italian organization, Giovani e Tradizione, Fr. Vincenzo M. Nuara, O.P. (pictured below). NLM readers may recall this organization hosted a conference in Rome in September 2008 which was reported upon here.

They have just recently announced the establishment of an association of priests, the Amicizia sacerdotale Summorum Pontificum, or Priestly Friends of Summorum Pontificum. Here is their announcement and statement of purpose [in an NLM translation]:

After the conference in Rome on 16-18 September 2008, organized by Giovani e Tradizione [Youth and Tradition] under the aegis of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei to celebrate the first anniversary of the Motu proprio "Summorum Pontificum" of Pope Benedict XVI, was born the "Amicizia sacerdotale Summorum Pontificum" [Priestly Friends of Summorum Pontificum], a group of priests (diocesan, religious and seminarians) who wish to live in perfect communion and obedience to the Vicar of Christ, Successor of Peter and shepherd of the universal Church. We are eager to learn, celebrate and spread the Traditional Roman Liturgy (the Latin-Gregorian liturgy), in particular the Holy Mass. We are eager to deepen our [understanding of] Catholic theology as taught by the authoritative teaching of Holy Mother Church and as proposed by the Angelic Doctor [St. Thomas Aquinas]. We desire to live in a priestly fraternity capable of supporting the spiritual and apostolic life of the same.

These objectives will be pursued by organizing retreats, conferences, study days, prayer and fellowship.

Anyone wishing to receive information and participate in the initiatives that will be organized and proposed can write to Fr. Vincenzo M. Nuara, O.P. by the email address found on our site: www.giovanietradizione.org
