Ecclesiastical Vesture: The Cappa Magna

For those with a particular interest in ecclesiastical vesture and ceremonial, Schola Sainte Cecile has an interesting piece up detailing the use and variations on the use of the cappa magna.

The original piece is in French and I haven't the moment to do a translation, so you can see it roughly translated by Google by way of this link.

They have posted a number of pictures to illustrate their piece which are quite interesting indeed.

This matter of some of the rarer forms of ecclesiastical dress in the church has been on my mind since Rome where much of it was in witness. It perhaps begs a series of posts looking at some of these different elements. Watch for that in coming days and weeks.
