Dr. Jeffrey Mirus of Catholic Culture has a hard-hitting piece up on that site, The Cautionary End of the Spirit of Vatican II, where he critiques an article by Fr. Paul Stanosz of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
"The so-called spirit of Vatican II which has wielded such a terrible power for the past forty years was nothing more than a euphoric baptism of secular utopianism... the article itself [of Fr. Stanosz] brilliantly illustrates the inevitable unfolding of the false spirit of Vatican II, the completely predictable devolution of that spirit..."
"One might now hope for self-understanding, repentance and true renewal..."
Dr. Mirus raises some interesting issues, ideas and proposals which are bound to challenge as well as to spur some interesting -- and needed -- discussions.
