Vatican, Dec. 13, 2007 (CWNews.com) - The president of the Ecclesia Dei commission met on December 12 with the newly appointed bishop of an Italian diocese where the traditional Latin Mass has been forbidden.
Bishop-elect Vittorio Lupi, who will be installed in January to head the Savona-Noli diocese, had a quiet Wednesday-morning meeting with Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos (bio - news). The Colombian cardinal heads the Vatican commission charged with implementation of the motu proprio authorizing the use of the "extraordinary form" of the Latin rite.
In November the apostolic adminstrator of the Savona-Noli diocese, Msgr. Andrea Giusto, issued an order "to ensure that in no church in the diocesan territory Masses according to the pre-Conciliar rite are celebrated."
