Last night I was reading through Stephen Schmalhofer's Ivy Catholic, and I found something most wonderful, the list of new seminarians for the Diocese of Harrisburg, PA, USA. Under the leadership of Bishop Kevin Rhoades, vocations have skyrocketed, and this year, the bishop has accepted fifteen new seminarians for the diocese. I grew up in that diocese, and never do I remember such a number being reached. Moreover, I noticed that, for the first time in ages, there is a seminarian from the parish in which I spent most of my childhood. Please pray for these young men.
When Rhoades became bishop, he outlined a focus on three things:
1. The ars celebrandi of the liturgy.
2. Eucharistic adoration.
3. Vocations.
It seems that, to paraphrase St. Pius X, from the first two, the third follows.
God bless Bishop Rhoades.
