Hope and Participation: Sacred Music Colloquium 2006

Here is an "official" report from the CMAA on its sacred music colloquium. I found it particularly interesting to see that the Pope said the following words the same day as the last liturgy of the meeting: "An authentic updating of sacred music can take place only in the lineage of the great tradition of the past, of Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony." We are worlds away from that ideal today but at least there are solid steps being taken in the right direction.
