Olivier Messiaen at 100

Day after tomorrow is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Olivier Messiaen. If you don't like his music, know that this is the first step toward eventually loving his music. Listen not for events or stories but emotions and colors and it changes everything.

Here is an organ improvisation by the master, on the text "And the three kings had seen the Star of the Christ in the East and headed towards Nazareth." Hear the chant motifs within (Puer Natus). I will say that I know very little about his music but I would like to know more. It is a relatively new discovery for me and I suspect that you need many years to come to terms with it all.
