2009 Ordo: Preserving Christian Publications

Preserving Christian Publications recently mentioned to the NLM that its 2009 Ordo for the usus antiquior is now available.

For those who wish to follow the calendar and liturgical life of the usus antiquior (both the Missal and the Breviary) an Ordo is invaluable tool. Priests generally, and particularly those who are new to the usus antiquior will find it essential, as will seminarians and sacristans. But the laity too can also benefit from it.

Here is what this particular Ordo includes:

Order of Reciting the Divine Office and Observing the Sacrifice of the Mass for the Year of Our Lord 2009; With Mass Propers for the USA Dioceses

This English-language Ordo is indispensable for the clergy and laity alike who follow the traditional (1962) Roman Missal and Breviary. Of course, it is also a must for every sacristy!

For every day of the year, the Ordo implements the rubrics that regulate the liturgical calendar (cf. Rubrics of the Roman Breviary and Missal) taking the guess work out of what propers should be used at Mass or what prayers should be said during the Divine Office.

The edition we offer has been published annually for over 30 years, and is considered by many priests who say the traditional Mass and breviary to be the most accurate.

In conformity with the 1960 code of rubrics that comprise the 1962 editions of the traditional Roman Missal and Breviary, in addition to providing the liturgical rank, color and correct ordinary and propers to be used, this Ordo also includes:

- Explanation of abbreviations and symbols used throughout

- Table of movable feasts, rogation and ember days, and nuptial solemnities

- List of feasts on which Masses pro populo must be said

- Various decrees pertinent to the USA and liturgical calendar

- Tables of Occurrence & Concurrence

- Excerpts from the Rubricae Generales sections of the Roman Missal and Breviary

Appendixes for the dioceses in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Scotland and Wales, and Australia and New Zealand.

180 pages, 8½" x 5½", perfect-bound soft cover, #55675. $14.00
