Upcoming Usus Antiquior Events in Toronto: The FSSP and the Oratory

The website of the Archdiocese of Toronto happily notes the upcoming "Candlelight Rosary Procession and High Mass" being offered by the Fraternity of St. Peter in the Archdiocese of Toronto in about a week's time. Here is the information:

October 7, 2008
Holy Cross Parish, 291 Cosburn Avenue, Toronto.

Honouring Our Lady of the Rosary at Holy Cross Church.

6:30 p.m. – Candlelight Procession.
7:00 p.m. – Traditional Latin Sung Mass with Gregorian Choir of St. Patrick's Parish, Toronto.

Note to Clergy: Visiting Priests and Deacons participate at Mass in Extraordinary Form by attendance "in choir", i.e. processing and taking their places in the sanctuary, vested in cassock and surplice; a white stole is worn during the Canon, until the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament.

For more information please contact the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, Rev. Fr. Howard J. Venette, FSSP, Chaplain, at 416-421-5225.

As an aside, the FSSP apostolate in Toronto is still in a transitory phase while a permanent home is sought for them by that archdiocese, but for information on their apostolate, visit www.fssptoronto.com.

Reminder: Solemn Mass at the Toronto Oratory this Weekend

While we are discussing Toronto, it would be pertinent to remind all in that region as well that the Toronto Oratory is celebrating a Solemn Mass this Saturday at Holy Family Church at 11:30am.

I would encourage all in the Toronto region to support both the FSSP and the Toronto Oratory in these endeavours with their attendance, promotion and moral support.

I pray they both flourish. It is a magnificent thing indeed when one can being to look to multiple places for solemn liturgy in both the ancient and modern uses of the Roman rite.
